What to expect from a Surrey CCTV install

A lot of the calls we get start the same way: "We want cameras, but we don't know where to start." This post is the answer we usually give over the phone, written down so you can read it before you call.

What a Platinum CCTV system includes

We keep this to what we actually install. A CCTV system from us is built around:

  • 4K, high-resolution cameras with true night vision
  • AI person and vehicle detection, so your phone isn't buzzing every time a branch moves
  • Secure remote viewing on your phone, tablet, and desktop
  • Recording on a local NVR or in the cloud, depending on how you want to keep your footage
  • Discreet camera placement and clean, concealed cabling

That last point is the one people notice later. Cameras are only half the job. The other half is getting cable to them without leaving runs stapled across the siding or hanging through the garage. We care about how the finished work looks as much as how it records.

Low voltage, not electrical work

A CCTV install is low voltage work. It is not a general electrical visit. We don't add circuits, change panels, or take on power work of any kind. Panel, circuit, and power work is handled by Able Electrical, a separate licensed electrical contractor. Knowing that up front keeps you from booking the wrong trade for the wrong part of the project.

What to send with your quote request

You can ask for a free consultation through our contact page or by email. The more we know before the visit, the more useful the first conversation is. Please send:

  1. Home or business. A family home and a storefront need different coverage and different ways of viewing the footage.
  2. Roughly how many doors and gates. Entry points drive most of the camera plan. A rough count is fine. We'll count properly on site.
  3. Whether an alarm or access control should be quoted too. Plenty of clients find it easier to plan cameras, an alarm, and entry control at the same time, and our access control integrates with cameras and automation. If you only want cameras, say so and we'll keep the quote to cameras.

It also helps to tell us your city and anything specific on your mind, like a side gate you can't see from inside or a driveway you want covered. We get back to you within one business day.

The site visit

We walk the property with you. The goal is a camera plan that covers the doors, gates, and approaches you care about, with no obvious blind spots. On the walk we sort out:

  • Where each camera goes. Entry doors, gates, driveways, and the paths leading to them.
  • How the cable gets there. Concealed is the plan wherever the building allows it.
  • Where recording lives. If you choose a local NVR, we agree on a sensible spot for it. If you'd rather record to the cloud, we talk that through instead.
  • Who needs access. Which people in the household or business should be able to view cameras on their phones, and which alerts actually matter to them.

You deal with the owners directly. We're an owner-operated team, so the people who quote your job are personally involved in installing it.

An example from our projects

One of the homes on our projects page is a Vancouver custom home with a dome camera covering the front porch and an access device mounted at the gate. Cameras and entry control often share the front approach like that, and we plan the same pairing for Surrey homes and businesses.

Install day and handover

On install day we mount the cameras, run and conceal the cabling, set up recording, and commission the whole system end to end. Then we get the app onto your phone and walk you through it: live view, playback, and how person and vehicle alerts behave. We'd rather you leave that walkthrough confident than call us next week looking for the playback button.

If you added an alarm or access control to the quote, that work is part of the same conversation, so you're not juggling separate installers for each piece.
